FORUM Ecological networks: the missing links in biomonitoring science
Clare Gray,Clare Gray,Donald J. Baird,Simone Baumgartner,Ute Jacob,Gareth B. Jenkins,Eoin J. O'Gorman,Xueke Lu,Athen Ma,Michael J. O. Pocock,Nele Schuwirth,Murray S. A. Thompson,Guy Woodward +12 more
TL;DR: Monitoring anthropogenic impacts is essential for managing and conserving ecosystems, yet current biomonitoring approaches lack the tools required to deal with the effects of stressors on species and their interactions in complex natural systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Using a Smart City IoT to Incentivise and Target Shifts in Mobility Behaviour--Is It a Piece of Pie?
TL;DR: The development of the tripzoom system was developed as part of the SUNSET project to research and develop a mobile and fixed traffic sensor system to help facilitate individual mobility shifts and was trialled in three European country cities over six months, achieving a level of behavioural shifts in travel behaviour.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rich-cores in networks.
Athen Ma,Raul J. Mondragon +1 more
TL;DR: This work develops a method to characterise a rich-core in networks by theoretically coupling the underlying principle of arich-club with the escape time of a random walker and shows that the evolution of the core in World Trade and C. elegans networks correspond to responses to historical events and key stages in their physical development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thompson,Teja Tscharntke,Corinne Vacher,Harm G. van der Geest,Winfried Voigt,J. Arie Vonk,Xin Zhou,Guy Woodward +59 more
TL;DR: A network-based approach is proposed to transcend these discipline challenges and place the natural science context at the heart of EcoS research.
Book ChapterDOI

Christian Mulder,Elena M. Bennett,David A. Bohan,Michael Bonkowski,Stephen R. Carpenter,Rachel M. Chalmers,Wolfgang Cramer,Isabelle Durance,Nico Eisenhauer,Colin Fontaine,Alison J. TL;DR: The effects of the publication of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MEA, 2005) on different disciplines are analyzed and where the greatest advances are most likely to be made in the next decade and beyond is considered.
