Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of the HDAC1 complex that regulates the sensitivity of cancer cells to oxidative stress.
Takuya Kato,Yohei Shimono,Masaki Hasegawa,Mayumi Jijiwa,Atsushi Enomoto,Naoya Asai,Yoshiki Murakumo,Yoshiki Murakumo,Masahide Takahashi +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that HDAC1 increases the resistance of cancer cells to oxidative stress by negatively regulating the expression of thioredoxin binding protein 2 (TBP-2) and identifies RFP as a key regulator that provides cancer cells with resistance to anticancer drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Balance of Stromal BMP Signaling Mediated by GREM1 and ISLR Drives Colorectal Carcinogenesis.
Hiroki Kobayashi,Krystyna A. Gieniec,Josephine A. Wright,Tongtong Wang,Naoya Asai,Yasuyuki Mizutani,Tadashi Lida,Ryota Ando,Nobumi Suzuki,Nobumi Suzuki,Tamsin R M Lannagan,Jia Q Ng,Akitoshi Hara,Yukihiro Shiraki,Shinji Mii,Mari Ichinose,Laura Vrbanac,Matthew Lawrence,Tarik Sammour,Tarik Sammour,Kay Uehara,Davies Gareth,Leszek Lisowski,Ian E. Alexander,Ian E. Alexander,Yoku Hayakawa,Lisa M. Butler,Andrew C.W. Zannettino,M. Omar Din,Jeff Hasty,Alastair D. Burt,Alastair D. Burt,Simon J. Leedham,Anil K. Rustgi,Siddhartha Mukherjee,Timothy C. Wang,Atsushi Enomoto,Masahide Takahashi,Masahide Takahashi,Daniel L. Worthley,Susan L. Woods +40 more
TL;DR: Stromal BMP signaling predicts and modifies CRC progression and survival, and can be therapeutically targeted by novel AAV-directed gene delivery to the liver.
Journal ArticleDOI
Girdin maintains the stemness of glioblastoma stem cells
Atsushi Natsume,Takeshi Kato,Sayano Kinjo,Atsushi Enomoto,Hiroshi Toda,Shinji Shimato,Fumiharu Ohka,Kazuya Motomura,Yutaka Kondo,Takaki Miyata,Masahide Takahashi,Toshihiko Wakabayashi +11 more
TL;DR: This corrects the article DOI: 10.1038/onc.2011.466 to indicate that the author of the paper is a doctor of medicine rather than a scientist, as previously reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Renal urate handling: clinical relevance of recent advances.
TL;DR: The identified urate-anion exchanger URAT1 (SLC22A12) in the human kidney is found to lead to idiopathic renal hypouricemia and molecular identification of urate transporting proteins will lead to the new drug development for hyperuricemia.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Actin-Binding Protein Girdin and Its Akt-Mediated Phosphorylation Regulate Neointima Formation After Vascular Injury
Hiroshi Miyake,Kengo Maeda,Naoya Asai,Rei Shibata,Hitoshi Ichimiya,Mayu Isotani-Sakakibara,Yumiko Yamamura,Katsuhiro Kato,Atsushi Enomoto,Masahide Takahashi,Toyoaki Murohara +10 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that Girdin and its Akt-mediated phosphorylation have major roles in the migration and proliferation of VSMCs and vascular remodeling, making the Akt/Girdin signaling pathway a potential target for the development of new therapeutics for vascular diseases.
