Confidence-Aware Paced-Curriculum Learning by Label Smoothing for Surgical Scene Understanding
TL;DR: In this article , a pacing curriculum by label smoothing (P-CBLS) method is proposed to control the learning utility in a curriculum manner in a robotic vision system, where the smoothing factor is set at the beginning of training and gradually decreased to zero.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate the features that a CNN learns when trained and tested on different distributions of a synthetic dataset with controlled modes of variation, and show that different loss functions lead to different features being learned and consequently affect the generalization ability of the classifier on unseen data.
