TL;DR: It is demonstrated that sequencing of densely affected families permits exploration of the role of rare variants in a relatively common disease such as IA, although there are important study design considerations for applying sequencing to complex disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Prophylactic Transluminal Balloon Angioplasty on Cerebral Vasospasm and Outcome in Patients With Fisher Grade III Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Results of a Phase II Multicenter, Randomized, Clinical Trial
Marike Zwienenberg-Lee,Marike Zwienenberg-Lee,Jonathan Hartman,Nancy Rudisill,Lori Kennedy Madden,Karen E. Smith,Joseph M. Eskridge,David W. Newell,Bon H. Verweij,M. Ross Bullock,Andrew Baker,William M. Coplin,Robert A. Mericle,Jian Dai,David M. Rocke,J. Paul Muizelaar +15 more
TL;DR: Fewer patients tend to develop vasospasm after treatment with pTBA and there is a statistically significantly decreased need for therapeutic angioplasty, and proof of concept is confirmed by these results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Induced Hypertension for Delayed Cerebral Ischemia After Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
Celine S. Gathier,Walter M. van den Bergh,Mathieu van der Jagt,Bon H. Verweij,Jan Willem Dankbaar,Marcella C.A. Müller,Annemarie W. Oldenbeuving,Gabriel J.E. Rinkel,Arjen J. C. Slooter +8 more
TL;DR: Clinical outcome of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients with DCI included in a randomized trial on the effectiveness of induced hypertension does not add any evidence to support induced hypertension and shows that this treatment can lead to serious adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk Factors for Intracranial Aneurysm Rupture: A Systematic Review.
Rachel Kleinloog,Nikki de Mul,Bon H. Verweij,Jan A. Post,Gabriel J.E. Rinkel,Ynte M. Ruigrok +5 more
TL;DR: Irregular aneurysm shape was identified as a risk factor with potential for use in clinical practice and the risk factors aspect ratio, size ratio, bottleneck factor, height-to-width ratio, contact with the perianeurysmal environment, volume- to-ostium ratio, and dome-direction should first be confirmed in multivariate analysis and incorporated in prediction models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of giant and large internal carotid artery aneurysms with a high-flow replacement bypass using the excimer laser-assisted nonocclusive anastomosis technique.
Tristan P.C. van Doormaal,Albert van der Zwan,Bon H. Verweij,David J. Langer,Cornelis A.F. Tulleken +4 more
TL;DR: This study shows that the excimer laser-assisted nonocclusive anastomosis high-flow replacement bypass is a reliable and effective method to treat these otherwise untreatable patients.
