Journal ArticleDOI

One fungus, which genes? Development and assessment of universal primers for potential secondary fungal DNA barcodes.

J. B. Stielow, +62 more
- 28 Aug 2015 -
TL;DR: A novel high fidelity primer pair for TEF1α has potential as a supplementary DNA barcode with superior resolution to ITS, while TOPI and LNS2 are attractive for the Pucciniomycotina, for which universal primers for ribosomal subunits often fail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fungal Planet Description Sheets: 371-399

Pedro W. Crous, +64 more
- 01 Dec 2015 -
TL;DR: Several novelties are introduced from Spain, namely Psathyrella complutensis on loamy soil, Chlorophyllum lusitanicum on nitrified grasslands and Pseudobeltrania ocoteae from Ocotea obtusata (Beltraniaceae emend.).
Journal ArticleDOI

Oligonucleotide Array for Identification and Detection of Pythium Species

TL;DR: The reported DNA array is a reliable tool for identification and detection of the majority of Pythium species in environmental samples and could be a major step forward for epidemiological and ecological studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phytopythium: molecular phylogeny and systematics.

TL;DR: Maximum likelihood and Bayesian phylogenetic analysis of the nuclear ribosomal DNA (LSU and SSU) and mitochondrial DNA cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI) as well as statistical analyses of pairwise distances strongly support the status of Phytopythium as a separate phylogenetic entity.
