Journal ArticleDOI

One fungus, which genes? Development and assessment of universal primers for potential secondary fungal DNA barcodes.

J. B. Stielow, +62 more
- 28 Aug 2015 -
TL;DR: A novel high fidelity primer pair for TEF1α has potential as a supplementary DNA barcode with superior resolution to ITS, while TOPI and LNS2 are attractive for the Pucciniomycotina, for which universal primers for ribosomal subunits often fail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alternaria section Alternaria: Species, formae speciales or pathotypes?

TL;DR: This manuscript provides guidelines for the naming and identification of phylogenetic species in Alternaria sect.
Journal ArticleDOI

DNA barcoding analysis of more than 9 000 yeast isolates contributes to quantitative thresholds for yeast species and genera delimitation.

TL;DR: Using ITS and LSU barcodes, it is shown that the recent reclassifications of basidiomycetous yeasts in 2015 have made a significant improvement for the generic taxonomy of those organisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phylogeny and taxonomy of meristematic rock-inhabiting black fungi in the Dothideomycetes based on multi-locus phylogenies

TL;DR: It is confirmed that most rock inhabiting-fungi (RIF) are highly polyphyletic among Dothideomycetidae, mainly within the order Capnodiales, an order otherwise incorporating several families of major plant pathological importance.
