Journal ArticleDOI
Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms: predictors of malignant and invasive pathology.
C. Max Schmidt,Patrick B. White,Joshua A. Waters,Constantin T. Yiannoutsos,Oscar W. Cummings,Marshall S. Baker,Thomas J. Howard,Nicholas J. Zyromski,Atilla Nakeeb,John M. DeWitt,Fatih Akisik,Stuart Sherman,Henry A. Pitt,Keith D. Lillemoe +13 more
TL;DR: To lower the rate of invasive pathology, surgery should be recommended for fit patients with main-duct IPMN and for branch- duct IPMN with mural nodularity or positive cytology irrespective of location, distribution, or size.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combined circulating tumor DNA and protein biomarker-based liquid biopsy for the earlier detection of pancreatic cancers
Joshua D. Cohen,Ammar A. Javed,Christopher J. Thoburn,Fay Wong,Jeanne Tie,Jeanne Tie,Peter Gibbs,Peter Gibbs,C. Max Schmidt,Michele T. Yip-Schneider,Peter J. Allen,Mark A. Schattner,Randall E. Brand,Aatur D. Singhi,Gloria M. Petersen,Seung-Mo Hong,Song Cheol Kim,Massimo Falconi,Claudio Doglioni,Matthew J. Weiss,Nita Ahuja,Jin He,Martin A. Makary,Anirban Maitra,Samir M. Klein,Cristian Tomasetti,Nickolas Papadopoulos,Kenneth W. Kinzler,Bert Vogelstein,Anne Marie Lennon +41 more
TL;DR: It is shown how combining mutations in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) with protein markers can result in a screening test with improved sensitivity while retaining specificity, which may prove useful for the earlier detection of many cancer types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of hospital volume, surgeon experience, and surgeon volume on patient outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy: A single-institution experience
C. Max Schmidt,Olivier Turrini,Purvi Parikh,Michael G. House,Nicholas J. Zyromski,Atilla Nakeeb,Thomas J. Howard,Henry A. Pitt,Keith D. Lillemoe +8 more
TL;DR: Improve in PD outcomes, including mortality, occurred with increased PD volume at a pancreatic center, and surgeon experience remained an important determinant of overall morbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hruban,Bert Vogelstein,Anne Marie Lennon +66 more
TL;DR: A panel of molecular markers and clinical features that show promise for the accurate classification of cystic neoplasms of the pancreas and identification of cysts that require surgery are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
A margin-negative R0 resection accomplished with minimal postoperative complications is the surgeon's contribution to long-term survival in pancreatic cancer.
Thomas J. Howard,Joseph E. Krug,Jian Yu,N.J. Zyromski,C. Max Schmidt,Lewis E. Jacobson,James A. Madura,Eric A. Wiebke,Keith D. Lillemoe +8 more
TL;DR: T tumor size, tumor differentiation, obtaining an R0 resection, and lack of postoperative complications were variables associated with long-term survival in patients with pancreatic cancer after resection.
