Journal ArticleDOI
Adults with incident accelerated knee osteoarthritis are more likely to receive a knee replacement: data from the Osteoarthritis Initiative.
Julie E. Davis,Shao-Hsien Liu,Kate L. Lapane,Matthew S. Harkey,Lori Lyn Price,Bing Lu,Grace H. Lo,Charles B. Eaton,Mary F. Barbe,Timothy E. McAlindon,Jeffrey B. Driban +10 more
TL;DR: Knees that developed AKOA were > 80x and ~ 25x more likely to receive a KR than knees with no KOA or incident common KOA, and KRs were rare in the OAI among other knees withNo radiographic KOA at baseline.
Journal ArticleDOI
Citrus Consumption and Risk of Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma in the Women's Health Initiative.
Melissa M. Melough,Shaowei Wu,Wen-Qing Li,Charles B. Eaton,Hongmei Nan,Linda Snetselaar,Robert B. Wallace,Abrar A. Qureshi,Ock K. Chun,Eunyoung Cho +9 more
TL;DR: An increased melanoma risk associated with citrus juice intake was observed among women who spent the most time outdoors in summer as adults; the HR for the highest versus lowest intake was 1.22 (1.02, 1.46) (p trend = 0.03).
Journal Article
Cardiac risk factors: biomarkers and genetic tests to determine cardiovascular risk.
TL;DR: High-sensitivity C-reactive protein, a biomarker for inflammation, can be added to the parameters of the FRS in the Reynolds Risk Score to yield a more refined 10-year CHD risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
On Finite Groups of p-Local Rank One and Conjectures of Dade and Robinson
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the classification of finite simple groups to demonstrate that Conjecture 4.1 of G. R. Robinson (1996, Proc. London Math. Soc. (3)72, 312-330) and Dade's projective conjecture hold for finite groups of p-local rank one.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early life disadvantage and adult adiposity: tests of sensitive periods during childhood and behavioural mediation in adulthood
Stephen E. Gilman,Stephen E. Gilman,Yen-Tsung Huang,Marcia P. Jimenez,Golareh Agha,Su H. Chu,Charles B. Eaton,Risë B. Goldstein,Karl T. Kelsey,Stephen L. Buka,Eric B. Loucks +10 more
TL;DR: Infancy may be a sensitive period for exposure to socioeconomic disadvantage, as exposure in the earliest years of life confers a larger risk for overall and central adiposity in mid-adulthood than exposure during childhood.
