Deleterious Mutations in LRBA Are Associated with a Syndrome of Immune Deficiency and Autoimmunity
G Lopez-Herrera,Giacomo Tampella,Qiang Pan-Hammarström,Peer Herholz,Claudia M. Trujillo-Vargas,Claudia M. Trujillo-Vargas,Kanchan Phadwal,Anna Katharina Simon,Anna Katharina Simon,Michel Moutschen,Amos Etzioni,Adi Mory,Izhak Srugo,Doron Melamed,Kjell Hultenby,Chonghai Liu,Chonghai Liu,Manuela Baronio,Massimiliano Vitali,Pierre Philippet,Vinciane Dideberg,Asghar Aghamohammadi,Nima Rezaei,Victoria Enright,Likun Du,Ulrich Salzer,Hermann Eibel,Dietmar Pfeifer,Hendrik Veelken,Hans J. Stauss,Vassilios Lougaris,Alessandro Plebani,E. Michael Gertz,Alejandro A. Schäffer,Lennart Hammarström,Bodo Grimbacher +35 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that mutations in LRBA cause an immune deficiency characterized by defects in B cell activation and autophagy and by susceptibility to apoptosis, all of which are associated with a clinical phenotype of hypogammaglobulinemia and autoimmunity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin-21 restores immunoglobulin production ex vivo in patients with common variable immunodeficiency and selective IgA deficiency.
Stephan Borte,Qiang Pan-Hammarström,Chonghai Liu,Ulrich Sack,Michael Borte,Ulf Wagner,Dagmar Graf,Lennart Hammarström +7 more
TL;DR: This work provides an initial basis for a potential therapeutic role of IL-21 to reconstitute immunoglobulin production in CVID and IgAD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-homologous end joining in class switch recombination: the beginning of the end
TL;DR: The current knowledge of the predominant NHEJ pathway in CSR is focused on and a perspective on the A-EJ pathway is given, which is not well characterized yet and probably requires microhomologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel mutations in TACI (TNFRSF13B) causing common variable immunodeficiency.
Javad Mohammadi,Chonghai Liu,Asghar Aghamohammadi,Astrid Bergbreiter,Likun Du,Jiayi Lu,Nima Rezaei,Ali Akbar Amirzargar,Mostafa Moin,Ulrich Salzer,Qiang Pan-Hammarström,Lennart Hammarström +11 more
TL;DR: The novel mutations identified in this study support the notion of a crucial role for TACI in B cell differentiation in CVID patients, as well as other Caucasian populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cernunnos influences human immunoglobulin class switch recombination and may be associated with B cell lymphomagenesis
Likun Du,Roujun Peng,Roujun Peng,Andrea Björkman,Noel Filipe de Miranda,Cornelia Rosner,Ashwin Kotnis,Mattias Berglund,Chonghai Liu,Chonghai Liu,Richard Rosenquist,Gunilla Enblad,Christer Sundström,Mohammad Hojjat-Farsangi,Hodjattallah Rabbani,Manuel R. Teixeira,Patrick Revy,Patrick Revy,Anne Durandy,Anne Durandy,Anne Durandy,Yixin Zeng,Andrew R. Gennery,Jean-Pierre de Villartay,Jean-Pierre de Villartay,Qiang Pan-Hammarström +25 more
TL;DR: B cells from Cernunnos-deficient patients contain aberrant class switch recombination junctions, and a dominant-negative CERNunnos mutation was detected in a diffuse large B cell lymphoma sample.
