Silver halide colloid precursors for the synthesis of monolayer-protected clusters.

TL;DR: A new method for the synthesis of monolayer-protected silver clusters (MPCs) based on the two-phase reduction of a stable negatively charged silver bromide sol is described, to uncouple the formation of the silver halide colloid from its transfer and reduction in the organic phase, thus allowing control over each reaction step.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of the reaction atmosphere on the characteristics and performance of VPO catalysts

TL;DR: In this article, a fixed-bed VPO-catalyst was used in the production of maleic anhydride and the results indicated that a marked pattern of catalyst reduction exists in the reactor used under butane-rich conditions, leading to the appearance of V3+ phases.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molybdenum oxide model catalysts and vanadium phosphates as actual catalysts for understanding heterogeneous catalytic partial oxidation reactions: A contribution by Jean-Claude Volta

TL;DR: Volta et al. as mentioned in this paper developed the spin-echo mapping technique for determining the oxidation state of V through the chemical shift of 31P NMR peak and used this to help unravel the complexity of transformations in VPO materials during preparation, activation and reaction allowing them to make meaningful structure-activity relationships.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benzyl alcohol oxidation with Pd-Zn/TiO2: computational and experimental studies.

TL;DR: Computer studies were performed to compare the adsorption energies of benzyl alcohol and the reaction products (benzaldehyde and toluene) on PdZn surfaces to understand the oxidation mechanism and further explain the correlation between the catalyst composition and its activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electron diffraction from epitaxial crystals, a convergent-beam electron diffraction of the interface structure for NiSi2/Si and Al/GaAs

TL;DR: In this article, electron diffraction from a plan-view specimen of a coherent epitaxial bicrystal is studied both theoretically (in a Bloch wave approach using a coincident site lattice) and experimentally (using convergent-beam electron difforescence) using CBED pattern symmetries can be used to find the symmetry of the bicystal, thus limiting the possible displacements of the two crystals.
