Journal ArticleDOI

Scintillator-based diagnostic for fast ion loss measurements on DIII-D.

TL;DR: Initial DIII-D results showing prompt losses and energetic ion loss due to MHD instabilities are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of off-axis fishbones

TL;DR: In this article, the authors observed a burst in high-beta, beam-heated plasmas with safety factor q > 1 in the DIII-D tokamak, where the off-axis fishbones are similar to the q = 1 fishbones first observed on the Poloidal Divertor Experiment (PDX).
Journal ArticleDOI

Discovery of stationary operation of quiescent H-mode plasmas with net-zero neutral beam injection torque and high energy confinement on DIII-D

TL;DR: In this paper, the edge turbulence was modified to achieve stationary, high confinement operation without edge localized mode (ELM) instabilities and with no net external torque input, which achieved an additional confinement challenge that is usually difficult at low torque.
