Journal ArticleDOI
The Amount of Recycled Crust in Sources of Mantle-Derived Melts
Alexander V. Sobolev,Albrecht W. Hofmann,D. V. Kuzmin,Gregory M. Yaxley,Nicholas Arndt,Sun-Lin Chung,Leonid V. Danyushevsky,Tim Elliott,Frederick A. Frey,Michael O. Garcia,Andrey A. Gurenko,Vadim S. Kamenetsky,Andrew C. Kerr,Nadezhda Krivolutskaya,Vladimir V. Matvienkov,Igor K. Nikogosian,Igor K. Nikogosian,Alexander Rocholl,I. A. Sigurdsson,N. M. Sushchevskaya,Mengist Teklay +20 more
TL;DR: Olivine phenocrysts' compositions record differences in the contributions of pyroxenite-derived melts in mid-ocean ridge basalts, which imply involvement of 2 to 20% (up to 28%) of recycled crust in mantle melting.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Preparation and Preliminary Characterisation of Eight Geological MPI-DING Reference Glasses for In-Situ Microanalysis
Klaus Peter Jochum,Donald B. Dingwell,Alexander Rocholl,Brigitte Stoll,Albrecht W. Hofmann,S. Becker,A. Besmehn,D. Bessette,H.-J. Dietze,Peter Dulski,J. Erzinger,Eric Hellebrand,Peter Hoppe,Ingo Horn,Koen Janssens,George A. Jenner,Max Klein,William F. McDonough,M. Maetz,Klaus Mezger,C. Müker,Igor K. Nikogosian,C. Pickhardt,Ingrid Raczek,Dieter Rhede,H. M. Seufert,S.G. Simakin,Alexander V. Sobolev,B. Spettel,Susanne M. Straub,Laszlo Vincze,A. Wallianos,G. Weckwerth,Stefan Weyer,D. Wolf,M. Zimmer +35 more
TL;DR: In this paper, eight silicate glasses were prepared by directly fusing and stirring 50-100 g each of basalt, andesite, komatiite, peridotite, rhyolite, and quartz-diorite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Boron and Oxygen Isotope Composition of Certified Reference Materials NIST SRM 610/612 and Reference Materials JB-2 and JR-2
Simone A Kasemann,Anette Meixner,Alexander Rocholl,Torsten Vennemann,Martin Rosner,Axel K. Schmitt,Michael Wiedenbeck +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present data on the concentration, the isotope composition and the homogeneity of boron in NIST silicate glass reference materials SRM 610 and SRM 612, and in powders and glasses of geological reference materials JB-2 and JR-2 (rhyolite).
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical Characterisation of NIST Silicate Glass Certified Reference Material SRM 610 by ICP-MS, TIMS, LIMS, SSMS, INAA, AAS and PIXE
Alexander Rocholl,Klaus Simon,Klaus Peter Jochum,Frank Bruhn,Roland Gehann,Utz Kramar,Werner Luecke,Michael Molzahn,Ernst Pernicka,M. Seufert,Bernhard Spettel,Jens Stummeier +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the certified Rb concentration may not be representative for all distributed SRM 610 wafers, since some trace elements were lost during the production of the glass, e.g. Ag and Br.
Journal ArticleDOI
Continental geochemical signatures in dacites from Iceland and implications for models of early Archaean crust formation
TL;DR: In this article, the authors report chemical and isotopic data for a suite of Cenozoic felsic volcanic rocks from Iceland and demonstrate that plate subduction and melting of subduction-modified mantle or lithosphere are not necessarily required to produce the key chemical signatures of continental crust.
