Swine and Poultry Pathogens: the Complete Genome Sequences of Two Strains of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and a Strain of Mycoplasma synoviae

Ana Tereza Ribeiro de Vasconcelos, +86 more
TL;DR: Genomic comparisons revealed that reduction in genome size implied loss of redundant metabolic pathways, with maintenance of alternative routes in different species, and indicated a likely transfer event of hemagglutinin-coding DNA sequences from M. gallisepticum to M. synoviae.
Journal ArticleDOI

The complete genome sequence of Chromobacterium violaceum reveals remarkable and exploitable bacterial adaptability

Ana Tereza Ribeiro de Vasconcelos, +97 more
TL;DR: The complete genome sequence reveals extensive alternative pathways for energy generation, complex and extensive systems for stress adaptation and motility, and widespread utilization of quorum sensing for control of inducible systems, all of which underpin the versatility and adaptability of the organism.
Journal ArticleDOI

LexA repressor forms stable dimers in solution. The role of specific dna in tightening protein-protein interactions.

TL;DR: In contrast to the previous model, a tight dimer rather than a monomer is the functional repressor, and the LexA dimer only loses its ability to recognize a specific DNA sequence by RecA-induced autoproteolysis.
Journal ArticleDOI

A System for Automated Bacterial (genome) Integrated Annotation---SABIA

TL;DR: A web-based software suite, SABIA (System for Automated Bacterial Integrated Annotation), is described that provides a comprehensive computational support for the assembly and annotation of whole bacterial genomes from the data derived from sequencing projects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adjuvant activity of a nontoxic mutant of Escherichia coli heat-labile enterotoxin on systemic and mucosal immune responses elicited against a heterologous antigen carried by a live Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium vaccine strain.

TL;DR: Systemic and mucosal antibody responses against both the major subunit of colonization factor antigen I and the somatic lipopolysaccharide expressed by recombinant bivalent Salmonella vaccine strains were significantly enhanced by coadministration of a detoxified derivative with preserved adjuvant effects of the ETEC heat-labile toxin, LT(R192G).
