Journal ArticleDOI

thick tassel dwarf1 encodes a putative maize ortholog of the Arabidopsis CLAVATA1 leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase.

TL;DR: The results suggest that td1 functions in the inflorescence to limit meristem size, and suggest that the CLAVATA signaling pathway is conserved in monocots.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparing the "soil": the primary tumor induces vasculature reorganization in the sentinel lymph node before the arrival of metastatic cancer cells.

TL;DR: The hypothesis that modification of the microenvironment for a secondary tumor can be initiated by a primary tumor before and independent of the physical presence of metastatic cancer cells is supported.
Journal Article

Intratumoral lymphatics are essential for the metastatic spread and prognosis in squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck region.

TL;DR: It is suggested that intratumoral lymphatics play a greater role than peritumoralymphatic lymphatics in nodal metastasis of HNSCC and that tumor CD44 levels can predict sensitivity to radiation therapy.
Journal Article

Spontaneous Hematogenous and Lymphatic Metastasis, but not Primary Tumor Growth or Angiogenesis, Is Diminished in Fibrinogen-deficient Mice

TL;DR: The results suggest fibrin(ogen) plays an important role in spontaneous metastasis, facilitating the stable adhesion and/or survival of metastatic emboli after tumor cell intravasation and therapeutic strategies focusing on hemostatic factors may be effective in controlling solid tumor metastasis.
