Mutations at the mitochondrial DNA polymerase (POLG) locus associated with male infertility
Anja T. Rovio,D.R. Marchington,Susanne Donat,Hans-Christian Schuppe,Josef Abel,Ellen Fritsche,David J. Elliott,Pekka Laippala,Arja L. Ahola,David McNay,Robert F. Harrison,Barbara Hughes,Thomas Barrett,Thomas Barrett,David Bailey,David Bailey,Denise Mehmet,Anne M. Jequier,Tim B. Hargreave,Shu Huei Kao,James M. Cummins,David E. Barton,Howard J. Cooke,Yau-Huei Wei,Lars Wichmann,Joanna Poulton,Howard T. Jacobs +26 more
TL;DR: Human mitochondrial DNA polymerase, encoded by POLG, contains a polyglutamine tract encoded by a CAG microsatellite repeat that is associated with male infertility typified by a range of sperm quality defects but excluding azoospermia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosome specific paints from a high resolution flow karyotype of the mouse.
Pamela Rabbitts,Helen Impey,Amanda C. Heppell-Parton,Cordelia Langford,Charles Tease,Nicholas Lowe,David Bailey,Malcolm A. Ferguson-Smith,Nigel P. Carter +8 more
TL;DR: This is the first demonstration of how a complete set of mouse chromosome paints can be produced, separated using flow cytometry into 18 distinguishable peaks.
Journal ArticleDOI
The X-Y homologous gene amelogenin maps to the short arms of both the X and Y chromosomes and is highly conserved in primates.
Journal ArticleDOI
A cancer drug atlas enables synergistic targeting of independent drug vulnerabilities
Ravi S. Narayan,Piet Molenaar,Jian Teng,Fleur M G Cornelissen,Irene Roelofs,Renée X. de Menezes,Rogier Dik,Tonny Lagerweij,Yoran Broersma,Naomi Petersen,Jhon Alexander Marin Soto,Eelke Brands,Philip van Kuiken,Maria C. TL;DR: The drug atlas is described, a method to predict effective drug combination from common exclusive drug effects providing a resource for exploring and understanding effective drug combinations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning of the X-linked glycerol kinase deficiency gene and its identification by sequence comparison to the Bacillus subtilis homologue
Carole A. Sargent,NabeelA. Affara,E. Bentley,Adele Pelmear,David Bailey,Phillip M. Davey,David Dow,M.A. Leversha,Helen Aplin,Guy T.N. Besley,Malcolm A. Ferguson-Smith +10 more
TL;DR: Analysis of DNA from somatic cell hybrids carrying deleted X chromosomes, has shown that clone 142 detects homologous sequences between Xp21.2-p22.1 (the interval containing the locus responsible for glycerol kinase deficiency--GKD), which are deleted in two patients with GKD.
