Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical properties of atomically thin boron nitride and the role of interlayer interactions

TL;DR: It is reported that high-quality single-crystalline mono- and few-layer BN nanosheets are one of the strongest electrically insulating materials and more intriguingly, few- Layer BN shows mechanical behaviours quite different from those of few- layer graphene under indentation.
Journal ArticleDOI

High thermal conductivity of high-quality monolayer boron nitride and its thermal expansion.

TL;DR: In this article, high-quality one-atom-thin hexagonal boron nitride (BN) has a thermal conductivity (κ) of 751 W/mK at room temperature, the second largest κ per unit weight among all semiconductors and insulators.
Journal ArticleDOI

Approaching the Intrinsic Limit in Transition Metal Diselenides via Point Defect Control.

TL;DR: Two dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) based semiconductors have generated intense recent interest due to their novel optical and electronic properties and potential for applica... as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman signature and phonon dispersion of atomically thin boron nitride

TL;DR: The intrinsic Raman signature of monolayer and few-layer BN is revealed and it is found that atomically thin BN without interaction with a substrate has a G band frequency similar to that of bulk hexagonal BN (hBN), but strain induced by the substrate can cause a pronounced Raman shift.
