Hydrogel-Based Nanocomposites and Mesenchymal Stem Cells: A Promising Synergistic Strategy for Neurodegenerative Disorders Therapy

TL;DR: Basic concepts to design acellular and cell-loaded materials with specific and tunable rheological and functional properties and the use of hydrogel-based nanocomposites and mesenchymal stem cells as a synergistic strategy for nervous tissue applications are focused on.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two-year longitudinal monitoring of amnestic mild cognitive impairment patients with prodromal Alzheimer's disease using topographical biomarkers derived from functional magnetic resonance imaging and electroencephalographic activity

TL;DR: These findings represent the first longitudinal characterization of functional biomarkers of prodromal AD relative to "negative" aMCI patients based on 5 serial recording sessions over 2 years.
Journal ArticleDOI

Macroautophagy and the proteasome are differently involved in the degradation of alpha-synuclein wild type and mutated A30P in an in vitro inducible model (PC12/TetOn)

TL;DR: An inducible model of α-syn expression (both wild type [WT] and mutated A30P) in rat PC12/TetOn cells is developed and can provide useful details about α- syn function, aggregation, and degradation pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogel-based delivery of Tat-fused protein Hsp70 protects dopaminergic cells in vitro and in a mouse model of Parkinson’s disease

TL;DR: A novel brain Hsp70 delivery system using injectable, biocompatible, and biodegradable semi-interpenetrating polymer networks of collagen and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid structured with gelatin particles enabled the effective brain release of Tat-Hsp70 and is ready for further improvements.
