Journal ArticleDOI

Graphene based electrochemical immunosensor for the ultra-sensitive label free detection of Alzheimer's beta amyloid peptides Aβ(1–42)

TL;DR: An immunosensor capable of high sensitivity detection of beta-amyloid peptides, shown to be a reliable biomarker for Alzheimer's disease, has been developed using screen printed graphene electrodes (SPGEs) modified with ultra-thin layers of polymerised 1,5-diaminonaphthalene (pDAN) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Technological tools and strategies for culturing human gut microbiota in engineered in vitro models

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the main technologies for the continuous culture of microbiota as upstream systems to be coupled with microfluidic devices to study bacteria-host cells communication.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early-onset Alzheimer disease in an Italian family with presenilin-1 double mutation E318G and G394V.

TL;DR: An Italian kindred with FAD and PSEN-1 double mutation E318G+G394V that clearly cosegregates with the pathology is reported, suggesting that this double mutation might be involved in early-onset AD etiopathogenesis by affecting a PSen-1 function other than γ-secretase activity.
