Graphene based electrochemical immunosensor for the ultra-sensitive label free detection of Alzheimer's beta amyloid peptides Aβ(1–42)
Hina Y. Abbasi,Zari Tehrani,Anitha Devadoss,Muhammad Munem Ali,Soraya Moradi-Bachiller,Diego Albani,Owen J. Guy +6 more
TL;DR: An immunosensor capable of high sensitivity detection of beta-amyloid peptides, shown to be a reliable biomarker for Alzheimer's disease, has been developed using screen printed graphene electrodes (SPGEs) modified with ultra-thin layers of polymerised 1,5-diaminonaphthalene (pDAN) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting and Tracking Short Term Disease Progression in Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment Patients with Prodromal Alzheimer’s Disease: Structural Brain Biomarkers
Moira Marizzoni,Clarissa Ferrari,Jorge Jovicich,Diego Albani,Claudio Babiloni,Libera Cavaliere,Mira Didic,Gianluigi Forloni,Samantha Galluzzi,Karl-Titus Hoffmann,José Luis Molinuevo,Flavio Nobili,Lucilla Parnetti,Pierre Payoux,Federica Ribaldi,Paolo Maria Rossini,Peter Schönknecht,Andrea Soricelli,Tilman Hensch,Magda Tsolaki,Pieter Jelle Visser,Jens Wiltfang,Jill C. Richardson,Régis Bordet,Olivier Blin,Giovanni B. Frisoni +25 more
TL;DR: MRI structural biomarkers can enrich prodromal AD with fast progressors and significantly decrease group size in clinical trials of disease modifying drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuroplasticity and second messenger pathways in antidepressant efficacy: pharmacogenetic results from a prospective trial investigating treatment resistance
Chiara Fabbri,Concetta Crisafulli,Raffaella Calati,Diego Albani,Gianluigi Forloni,Marco Calabrò,Rosalba Martines,Rosalba Martines,Siegfried Kasper,Joseph Zohar,Alzbeta Juven-Wetzler,Daniel Souery,Stuart Montgomery,Julien Mendlewicz,Alessandro Serretti +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed a pathway analysis to investigate the possible molecular mechanisms involved in the treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and found that genes belonging to neuroplasticity, monoamine, circadian rhythm and transcription factor pathways were investigated as modulators of antidepressant efficacy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Technological tools and strategies for culturing human gut microbiota in engineered in vitro models
Lorenzo Sardelli,Simone Perottoni,Marta Tunesi,Lucia Boeri,Federica Fusco,Paola Petrini,Diego Albani,Carmen Giordano +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarized the main technologies for the continuous culture of microbiota as upstream systems to be coupled with microfluidic devices to study bacteria-host cells communication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early-onset Alzheimer disease in an Italian family with presenilin-1 double mutation E318G and G394V.
Sara Batelli,Diego Albani,Francesca Prato,Letizia Polito,Massimo Franceschi,Armando Gavazzi,Gianluigi Forloni +6 more
TL;DR: An Italian kindred with FAD and PSEN-1 double mutation E318G+G394V that clearly cosegregates with the pathology is reported, suggesting that this double mutation might be involved in early-onset AD etiopathogenesis by affecting a PSen-1 function other than γ-secretase activity.
