Journal ArticleDOI

Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor, sitagliptin, improves endothelial dysfunction in association with its anti-inflammatory effects in patients with coronary artery disease and uncontrolled diabetes.

TL;DR: Sitagliptin significantly improved endothelial function and inflammatory state in patients with CAD and uncontrolled DM, beyond its hypoglycemic action, suggesting that sitagli leptin has beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system in DM patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Critical Role of Angiotensin II in Excess Salt-Induced Brain Oxidative Stress of Stroke-Prone Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

TL;DR: Excess salt, via oxidative stress, accelerates stroke, and angiotensin II, via AT1 receptor, plays a pivotal role in brain superoxide production of SHRSP by excess salt.
Journal ArticleDOI

Accuracy of Cuff-Measured Blood Pressure: Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

Dean S. Picone, +49 more
TL;DR: Cuff BP has variable accuracy for measuring either brachial or aortic intra-arterial BP, and this adversely influences correct BP classification, indicating that stronger accuracy standards for BP devices may improve cardiovascular risk management.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pentraxin 3 Is a New Inflammatory Marker Correlated With Left Ventricular Diastolic Dysfunction and Heart Failure With Normal Ejection Fraction

TL;DR: Pentraxin 3 is significantly elevated in HFNEF patients and produced in the coronary circulation in patients with LVDD, but not high-sensitivity CRP, is an independent inflammatory marker correlated with the presence of LVDd and HFNEf.
