Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of Na+/H+ antiporting.
Isaiah T. Arkin,Huafeng Xu,Morten Ø. Jensen,Eyal Arbely,Estelle R. Bennett,Kevin J. Bowers,Edmond Chow,Ron O. Dror,Michael P. Eastwood,Ravenna Flitman-Tene,Brent A. Gregersen,John L. Klepeis,István Kolossváry,Yibing Shan,David E. Shaw,David E. Shaw +15 more
TL;DR: Two protons are required to transport a single Na+ ion: D163 protonates to reveal the Na+-binding site to the periplasm, and subsequent protonation of D164 releases Na+.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Membrane Topology of GAT-1, a (Na+ + Cl−)-coupled γ-Aminobutyric Acid Transporter from Rat Brain
TL;DR: The membrane topology of GAT-1, a sodium- and chloride-coupled γ-aminobutyric acid transporter from rat brain, has been probed using N-glycosylation scanning mutagenesis and the results support the theoretical 12-transmembrane segment model.
Journal ArticleDOI
TDP-43 regulates the alternative splicing of hnRNP A1 to yield an aggregation-prone variant in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Jade-Emmanuelle Deshaies,Lulzim Shkreta,Alexander J. Moszczynski,Alexander J. Moszczynski,Hadjara Sidibé,Sabrina Semmler,Aurélien Fouillen,Estelle R. Bennett,Uriya Bekenstein,Laurie Destroismaisons,Johanne Toutant,Quentin Delmotte,Kathryn Volkening,Kathryn Volkening,Stéphanie Stabile,Anaïs Aulas,Yousra Khalfallah,Hermona Soreq,Antonio Nanci,Michael J. Strong,Michael J. Strong,Benoit Chabot,Christine Vande Velde +22 more
TL;DR: Combined in vivo and in vitro approaches demonstrated greater fibrillization propensity for hnRNP A1B, which drives protein aggregation and is toxic to cells, indicating that TDP-43 mislocalization may contribute to neuronal vulnerability and loss via altered HNRNPA1 pre-mRNA splicing and function.
Journal ArticleDOI
miRNA-132 induces hepatic steatosis and hyperlipidaemia by synergistic multitarget suppression
Geula Hanin,Nadav Yayon,Yonat Tzur,Rotem Haviv,Estelle R. Bennett,Shiran Udi,Yoganathan R Krishnamoorthy,Eleni Kotsiliti,Rivka Zangen,Ben Efron,Joseph Tam,Orit Pappo,Eyal Shteyer,Eli Pikarsky,Mathias Heikenwalder,Mathias Heikenwalder,David S. Greenberg,Hermona Soreq +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantified fatty liver parameters and the levels of miR-132 and its targets in novel transgenic mice overexpressing miR132, in liver tissues from patients with NAFLD, and in diverse mouse models of hepatic steatosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Parkinson’s disease CircRNAs Resource reveals a link between circSLC8A1 and oxidative stress
Mor Hanan,Alon Simchovitz,Nadav Yayon,Shani Vaknine,Roni Cohen-Fultheim,Miriam Karmon,Nimrod Madrer,Talia Miriam Rohrlich,Moria Maman,Estelle R. Bennett,David S. Greenberg,Eran Meshorer,Erez Y. Levanon,Hermona Soreq,Sebastian Kadener,Sebastian Kadener +15 more
TL;DR: This work links circSLC8A1 to oxidative stress‐related Parkinsonism and suggests further exploration of its molecular function in PD.
