Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of 2-(substituted phenyl)-3,5,5-trimethylmorpholine analogues and their effects on monoamine uptake, nicotinic acetylcholine receptor function, and behavioral effects of nicotine.
F. Ivy Carroll,Ana Zamfira Muresan,Bruce E. Blough,Hernán A. Navarro,S. Wayne Mascarella,J. Brek Eaton,Xiaodong Huang,M. Imad Damaj,Ronald J. Lukas +8 more
TL;DR: Two analogues with highest potency at α3β4*-nAChR and among the most potent transporter inhibitors have better potency than (S,S)-4a in blocking nicotine-CPP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Binding, and Antinociceptive Properties of 3′-(Substituted Phenyl)epibatidine Analogues. Nicotinic Partial Agonists
TL;DR: This paper reported the synthesis, receptor binding, and in vivo pharmacological properties of a series of 3'-(substituted phenyl)epibatidine analogues (5a-m).
Journal ArticleDOI
Opioid peptide receptor studies. 7. The methylfentanyl congener RTI-4614-4 and its four enantiomers bind to different domains of the rat mu opioid receptor.
Yi Feng Lu,Heng Xu,Lee-Yuan Liu-Chen,Chongguang Chen,John S. Partilla,George A. Brine,F. Ivy Carroll,Kenner C. Rice,Josephine Lai,Frank Porreca,Wolfgang Sadee,Richard B. Rothman +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the region from the N terminal to the start of the TMH3 of the μ opioid receptor determines the binding affinity of RTI‐4614‐4 and its isomers and that the e3 loop also plays a major role in determining thebinding affinity of μ agonist peptides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distinct Molecular Recognition of Psychostimulants by Human and Drosophila Serotonin Transporters
TL;DR: Models for the 3-phenyltropane analogs indicate that a region exists around the aromatic ring where decreased electron density is favored, particularly for hSERT, which may indicate pi-pi stacking with an aromatic amino acid residue in SERT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of effects produced by nicotine and the α4β2-selective agonist 5-I-A-85380 on intracranial self-stimulation in rats.
TL;DR: Results suggest that α4 β2 receptors are sufficient to mediate abuse-related rate-increasing effects of nAChR agonists in this ICSS procedure, and nicotine effects at non-α4β2 nA ChRs appear to oppose and limit abuse- related effects mediated by α4β 2 receptors, although tolerance can develop to these non-β2 effects.
