Journal ArticleDOI

Leptin induces direct vasodilation through distinct endothelial mechanisms.

TL;DR: Leptin-evoked vasorelaxation evoked by leptin is heterogeneous and related to the vascular bed, and the inhibition of nitric oxide synthase by NG-nitro-L-arginine-methyl ester does not modify blood pressure response to leptin, suggesting a predominant role of the EDHF mechanism in the hypotensive effect of leptin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Melusin, a muscle-specific integrin β1-interacting protein, is required to prevent cardiac failure in response to chronic pressure overload

TL;DR: Analysis of intracellular signaling events induced by pressure overload indicated that phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase-3 β (GSK-3β) was specifically blunted in melusin-null hearts, which prevents cardiac dilation during chronic pressure overload by specifically sensing mechanical stress.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two novel classes of neuroactive fatty acid amides are substrates for mouse neuroblastoma ‘anandamide amidohydrolase’

TL;DR: ‘anandamide amidohydrolase’ enzymes, such as that characterised in this study, may be used by neuronal cells also to hydrolyse the novel sleep‐inducing factor oleoyl‐amide.
