Journal ArticleDOI
Suppression of Aging in Mice by the Hormone Klotho
Hiroshi Kurosu,Masaya Yamamoto,Jeremy D. Clark,Johanne Pastor,Animesh Nandi,Prem Gurnani,Owen P. McGuinness,Hirotaka Chikuda,Masayuki Yamaguchi,Hiroshi Kawaguchi,Iichiro Shimomura,Yoshiharu Takayama,Joachim Herz,C. Ronald Kahn,Kevin P. Rosenblatt,Makoto Kuro-o +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that overexpression of Klotho in mice extends life span and it is suggested that Klotha-mediated inhibition of insulin and IGF1 signaling contributes to its anti-aging properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Osteoarthritis development in novel experimental mouse models induced by knee joint instability.
Satoru Kamekura,Kazuto Hoshi,Takashi Shimoaka,Ung-il Chung,Hirotaka Chikuda,Takashi Yamada,M. Uchida,Naoshi Ogata,Atsushi Seichi,Kozo Nakamura,Hiroshi Kawaguchi +10 more
TL;DR: Four types of mouse models exhibiting various speeds of OA progression are established by applying a mouse genomics approach to the models, so that molecular backgrounds in various stages of Oa development can be clarified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contribution of runt-related transcription factor 2 to the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis in mice after induction of knee joint instability
Satoru Kamekura,Yosuke Kawasaki,Kazuto Hoshi,Takashi Shimoaka,Hirotaka Chikuda,Zenjiro Maruyama,Toshihisa Komori,Shingo Sato,Shu Takeda,Gerard Karsenty,Kozo Nakamura,Ung-il Chung,Hiroshi Kawaguchi +12 more
TL;DR: RUNX-2 contributes to the pathogenesis of OA through chondrocyte hypertrophy and matrix breakdown after the induction of joint instability, as compared with wild-type mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of osteoclast apoptosis by ubiquitylation of proapoptotic BH3-only Bcl-2 family member Bim.
Toru Akiyama,P. Bouillet,Tsuyoshi Miyazaki,Yuho Kadono,Hirotaka Chikuda,Ung-il Chung,Akira Fukuda,Atsuhiko Hikita,Hiroaki Seto,Takashi Okada,Toshiya Inaba,Archana Sanjay,Roland Baron,Hiroshi Kawaguchi,Hiromi Oda,Kozo Nakamura,Andreas Strasser,Sakae Tanaka +17 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that ubiquitylation‐dependent regulation of Bim levels is critical for controlling apoptosis and activation of OCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Connection Between B Lymphocyte and Osteoclast Differentiation Pathways
Noriyo Manabe,Hiroshi Kawaguchi,Hirotaka Chikuda,Chisato Miyaura,Masaki Inada,Ryozo Nagai,Yo-ichi Nabeshima,Kozo Nakamura,Angus M. Sinclair,Richard H. Scheuermann,Makoto Kuro-o +10 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that B-lymphoid lineage cells are a major source of endogenous ODF/RANKL in bone marrow and support osteoclast differentiation in vitro and may affect the pathophysiology of bone disorders through regulating osteOClastogenesis.
