Renormalization of f levels away from the Fermi energy in electron excitation spectroscopies: Density-functional results for Nd 2-x Ce x CuO 4
TL;DR: In this article, the relaxation energies for photoemission where an occupied electronic state is excited and for inverse photo emission where an empty state is filled are calculated within the density-functional theory with application to Nd${}_{2\ensuremath{-}x}$Ce${}{x} $CuO${}-4}.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dirac mass generation from crystal symmetry breaking on the surfaces of topological crystalline insulators
Ilija Zeljkovic,Yoshinori Okada,Yoshinori Okada,Maksym Serbyn,Maksym Serbyn,Raman Sankar,Raman Sankar,Daniel Walkup,Wenwen Zhou,Junwei Liu,Guoqing Chang,Yung Jui Wang,M. Zahid Hasan,Fangcheng Chou,Hsin Lin,Arun Bansil,Liang Fu,Vidya Madhavan,Vidya Madhavan +18 more
TL;DR: Scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) measurements of the TCI Pb1-xSnxSe for a wide range of alloy compositions reveal a symmetry-breaking distortion on the surface, which imparts mass to the otherwise massless Dirac electrons-a mechanism analogous to the long sought-after Higgs mechanism in particle physics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic structure of heavy fermion superconductor CeMIn5 (M=Co,Rh,Ir)
TL;DR: In this article, the electronic structure of heavy fermion superconductor CeMIn5 (M=Co,Rh,Ir) is studied by density functional theory and the results indicate that the MIn2 layer plays an important role for stabilizing the layered crystal structure and determining the antiferromagnetic or paramagnetic ground state in this series.

Charge Density Waves and the Hidden Nesting of Purple Bronze K 0.9 Mo 6 O 17
TL;DR: It is found that a self-consistent Hartree-Fock solution reproduces extremely well the experimental behavior of the charge density wave (CDW) order parameter in the full range 0
