Topological dangling bonds with large spin splitting and enhanced spin polarization on the surfaces of Bi$_2$Se$_3$

TL;DR: The existence of a surface termination within a single quintuple layer where dangling bonds form with giant spin splitting owing to strong spin-orbit coupling is reported, providing a new avenue for manipulating band dispersions and spin-textures by adsorbed atoms or molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exceptionally large anomalous Hall effect due to anticrossing of spin-split bands in the antiferromagnetic half-Heusler compound TbPtBi

TL;DR: In this article, the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in the half-Heusler compound TbPtBi has been investigated and it is shown that the AHE does not originate from the Weyl points but that it is driven by the large net Berry curvature produced by the anticrossing of spin-split bands near the Fermi level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mirror Protected Dirac Fermions on a Weyl Semimetal NbP Surface

TL;DR: Through scanning tunneling spectroscopy, it is found that NbP's (001) surface hosts a pair of Dirac cones protected by mirror symmetry, and the quantum interference patterns arising from these novel Dirac fermions are resolved and revealed.

A new form of (unexpected) Dirac fermions in the strongly-correlated cerium monopnictides

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the observation of unusual Dirac fermion states in a strongly-correlated electron setting, which are uniquely distinct from those of graphene and conventional topological insulators.
