Unconventional transformation of spin Dirac phase across a topological quantum phase transition
Su-Yang Xu,Madhab Neupane,Ilya Belopolski,Chang Liu,Nasser Alidoust,Guang Bian,Shuang Jia,Shuang Jia,Gabriel Landolt,Gabriel Landolt,Batosz Slomski,Batosz Slomski,J. Hugo Dil,J. Hugo Dil,J. Hugo Dil,Pavel Shibayev,Susmita Basak,Tay-Rong Chang,Horng-Tay Jeng,Horng-Tay Jeng,Robert J. Cava,Hsin Lin,Arun Bansil,M. Zahid Hasan +23 more
TL;DR: This work uses photoemission spectroscopy to image the formation of protected surface states in a topological insulator as it chemically tune the system through a topology transition, and discovers an exotic spin-momentum locked, gapped surface state in the trivial phase that shares many important properties with the actual topological surface state.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of Weyl fermions in a magnetic non-centrosymmetric crystal
Daniel S. Sanchez,Guoqing Chang,Ilya Belopolski,Hong Lu,Jiaxin Yin,Nasser Alidoust,Xitong Xu,Tyler A. Cochran,Xiao Zhang,Yi Bian,Songtian S. Zhang,Yi-Yuan Liu,Jie Ma,Guang Bian,Hsin Lin,Su-Yang Xu,Shuang Jia,M. Zahid Hasan,M. Zahid Hasan +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magnetotransport measurements resolving the topological properties of Weyl fermion quasiparticles in magnetic non-centrosymmetric crystal PrAlGe were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Imaging the evolution of metallic states in a spin-orbit interaction driven correlated iridate
Yoshinori Okada,Daniel Walkup,Hsin Lin,Chetan Dhital,Tay-Rong Chang,Sovit Khadka,Wenwen Zhou,Horng-Tay Jeng,Arun Bansil,Ziqiang Wang,Stephen D. Wilson,Vidya Madhavan +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) series of iridates (Srn+1IrnO3n+1) have been the subject of much recent attention due to the anticipation of emergent physics arising from the cooperative action of spin-orbit (SO) driven band splitting and Coulomb interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-Kondo-like electronic structure in the correlated rare-earth hexaboride YbB(6).
Madhab Neupane,Su-Yang Xu,Nasser Alidoust,Guang Bian,Dae-Jeong Kim,Chang Liu,Ilya Belopolski,Tay-Rong Chang,Horng-Tay Jeng,Tomasz Durakiewicz,Hsin Lin,Arun Bansil,Zachary Fisk,M. Z. Hasan +13 more
TL;DR: Experimental and theoretical results show that YbB(6) exhibits a novel topological insulator state in the absence of a Kondo mechanism, and this approach provides a new approach for realizing novel correlated topologically insulator states in rare-earth materials.

Observation of a bulk 3D Dirac multiplet, Lifshitz transition, and nestled spin states in Na3Bi
Su-Yang Xu,Chang Liu,Satya Kushwaha,Tay-Rong Chang,Jason W. Krizan,Raman Sankar,Craig M. Polley,Johan Adell,Thiagarajan Balasubramanian,Koji Miyamoto,N. Alidoust,Guang Bian,Madhab Neupane,I. Belopolski,Horng-Tay Jeng,Cheng Yi Huang,Wei-Feng Tsai,Hsin Lin,Fangcheng Chou,Taichi Okuda,Arun Bansil,R. J. Cava,M. Z. Hasan +22 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the compound Na3Bi hosts a bulk spin-orbit Dirac multiplet and their interaction or overlap leads to a Lifshitz transition in momentum space, a condition for realizing interactions involving Dirac states.
