Journal ArticleDOI
Lower estimated glomerular filtration rate and higher albuminuria are associated with mortality and end-stage renal disease. A collaborative meta-analysis of kidney disease population cohorts
Brad C. Astor,Kunihiro Matsushita,Ron T. Gansevoort,Marije van der Velde,Mark Woodward,Andrew S. Levey,Paul E. de Jong,Josef Coresh,Meguid El-Nahas,Kai-Uwe Eckardt,Bertram L. Kasiske,Jackson T. TL;DR: Lower eGFR and more severe albuminuria independently predict mortality and ESRD among individuals selected for CKD, with the associations stronger for E SRD than for mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular and noncardiovascular mortality among patients starting dialysis.
Dinanda J. de Jager,Diana C. Grootendorst,Kitty J Jager,Paul C. W. van Dijk,Lonneke M. J. Tomas,David Ansell,Frederic Collart,Patrik Finne,James G. Heaf,Johan De Meester,Jack F.M. Wetzels,Frits R. Rosendaal,Friedo W. Dekker +12 more
TL;DR: Patients starting dialysis have a generally increased risk of death that is not specifically caused by excess cardiovascular mortality, and this work concludes that high overall mortality in patients starting Dialysis is a consequence of increased cardiovascular mortality risk only or whether noncardiovascular mortality is equally increased.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age and Association of Kidney Measures With Mortality and End-stage Renal Disease
Stein Hallan,Kunihiro Matsushita,Yingying Sang,Bakhtawar K. Mahmoodi,Bakhtawar K. Mahmoodi,Corri Black,Areef Ishani,Nanne Kleefstra,David Naimark,Paul Roderick,Marcello Tonelli,Jack F.M. Wetzels,Brad C. Astor,Ron T. Gansevoort,Adeera Levin,Chi Pang Wen,Chi Pang Wen,Josef Coresh +17 more
TL;DR: Both low eGFR and high albuminuria were independently associated with mortality and ESRD regardless of age across a wide range of populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
