Organising evidence for environmental management decisions: A '4S' hierarchy
TL;DR: It is argued that the least developed level of the hierarchy is that closest to decision-makers, placing synthesised scientific knowledge into environmental decision support systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of scientific evidence on conservation practitioners’ management decisions
TL;DR: The practitioners’ willingness to change their management choices when provided with summarized scientific evidence suggests that improved accessibility to scientific information would benefit conservation management outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: A co-ordinated portfolio of cross-disciplinary science, based on new models of international collaboration, will be essential as no scientist, programme or nation can realize these aspirations alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unexpected outcomes of invasive predator control: the importance of evaluating conservation management actions
TL;DR: This study is the first to quantify the return on investment from fox control in a conservation context and discovered there is limited quantitative evidence for a benefit of fox baiting on malleefowl, despite it being the main management action implemented for this nationally threatened, well-studied and iconic species.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: This article applied a suite of data-limited methods to global catch data, combined through an ensemble modeling approach, to provide quantitative estimates of exploitation status for 785 fish stocks, and found that 50% (439 stocks) are below BMSY and of these, 261 are estimated to be below 80% of the level.
