TL;DR: The recovery of a deep ice core from Dome C, Antarctica, that provides a climate record for the past 740,000 years is reported, suggesting that without human intervention, a climate similar to the present one would extend well into the future.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxygen isotope and palaeotemperature records from six Greenland ice‐core stations: Camp Century, Dye‐3, GRIP, GISP2, Renland and NorthGRIP
Sigfus J Johnsen,Sigfus J Johnsen,Dorthe Dahl-Jensen,Niels S. Gundestrup,Jørgen Peder Steffensen,Henrik Clausen,Heinz Miller,Valérie Masson-Delmotte,Arny E. Sveinbjörnsdottir,James W. C. White +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a new record of Holocene isotope variations obtained from the NorthGRIP ice-core matches the GRIP short-term isotope record, and also shows similar long-term trends to the Dye-3 and GRIP inverted temperature data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Textures and fabrics in the GRIP ice core
TL;DR: A comprehensive study of textures and fabrics has been carried out on the Greenland Ice Core Project (GRIP) ice core, yielding new information on the growth, rotation and recrystallization of ice crystals in the Greenland ice sheet as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inter-group violence among early Holocene hunter-gatherers of West Turkana, Kenya
Marta Mirazón Lahr,Frances Rivera,Ronika K. Power,Aurélien Mounier,B Copsey,Federica Crivellaro,JE Edung,JM Maillo Fernandez,C Kiarie,Julie Lawrence,A Leakey,E. Mbua,Heinz Miller,Anne W. T. Muigai,D. M. Mukhongo,A. Van Baelen,Rachel Wood,Jean-Luc Schwenninger,Rainer Grün,Rainer Grün,Hema Achyuthan,Alex Wilshaw,Robert Foley +22 more
TL;DR: The remains from Nataruk are unique, preserved by the particular conditions of the lagoon with no evidence of deliberate burial, and evidence that warfare was part of the repertoire of inter-group relations among prehistoric hunter-gatherers is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
A roadmap for Antarctic and Southern Ocean science for the next two decades and beyond

TL;DR: A co-ordinated portfolio of cross-disciplinary science, based on new models of international collaboration, will be essential as no scientist, programme or nation can realize these aspirations alone.
