Lutz,Jun Gu,Qihua Tan,Thomas T. Perls,Paola Sebastiani,Joris Deelen,Eline Slagboom,Elizabeth R. Hauser,Huji Xu,Xiao-Li Tian,Huanming Yang,James W. Vaupel +58 more
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study of Han Chinese with a sample size 2.7 times the largest previously published GWAS on centenarians suggests protective mechanisms including immunity and nutrient metabolism and their interactions with environmental stress play key roles in human longevity.

Perls,Elizabeth R. Hauser,William K. Gottschalk,Qihua Tan,Kaare Christensen,Xiaoming Shi,Michael W. Lutz,Xiao-Li Tian,Huanming Yang,James W. Vaupel +43 more
TL;DR: Findings indicated that previously published genome-wide association studies on longevity identified some sex-independent genetic variants but missed sex-specific longevity loci and pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI
Common genetic variants of the β2-adrenergic receptor affect its translational efficiency and are associated with human longevity
Ling Zhao,Fan Yang,Ke Xu,Huiqing Cao,Gu Yan Zheng,Zhang Yan,Jianxin Li,Hanbin Cui,Xiaomin Chen,Zhiming Zhu,Hongbo He,Xianming Mo,Brian K. Kennedy,Yousin Suh,Yi Zeng,Yi Zeng,Xiao-Li Tian +16 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that enhanced production of β2‐adrenergic receptors caused by genetic variants is inversely associated with human lifespan.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interactions Between Life Stress Factors and Carrying the APOE4 Allele Adversely Impact Self-reported Health in Old Adults
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that interaction between carrying APOE4 allele and chronic life stressors has significant impacts on self-reported health while controlling for various sociodemographic and health behavior factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interactions between Social/ behavioral factors and ADRB2 genotypes may be associated with health at advanced ages in China
Yi Zeng,Yi Zeng,Lingguo Cheng,Ling Zhao,Qihua Tan,Qiushi Feng,Huashuai Chen,Ke Shen,Jianxin Li,Fengyu Zhang,Huiqing Cao,Simon G. Gregory,Ze Yang,Jun Gu,Wei Tao,Xiao-Li Tian,Elizabeth R. Hauser +16 more
TL;DR: Significant positive associations of interactions between social/behavioral factors and the ADRB2 genotypes with health outcomes of cognitive function and self-reported health, and negative associations of carrying rs1042718 or rs 1042719 minor alleles with negative emotion, at advanced ages in China are indicated.
