Effect of Nozzle Configuration, Gas Pressure, and Gas Type on Coating Properties in Wire Arc Spray

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the fluid dynamics of the atomizing gas on the coating properties are presented, and the physical effects contributing to the observed adhesion improvements and interfacial properties are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanostructured materials production by hypersonic plasma particle deposition

TL;DR: In this article, a thermal plasma seeded with vapor-phase precursors is supersonically expanded through a nozzle to nucleate ultrafine particles, which are then deposited by hypersonic impaction onto a temperature-controlled substrate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Process study of thermal plasma chemical vapor deposition of diamond, part I: Substrate material, temperature, and methane concentration

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of process parameters on diamond film synthesis in DC thermal plasma jet reactors are discussed including substrate material, methane concentration and substrate temperature, and it has been found that increased methane concentrations result in smaller grain sizes due to the increased number of secondary nucleations on the existing facets of diamond crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical study of factors influencing arc erosion of cathode

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical model has been formulated describing the influence of the arc condition and the cathode material and geometry on arc cathode erosion, and it has been shown that for high-current applications erosion can be minimized by using a cathode with a low vapor pressure, and that for these conditions the thermal design of the cathodes plays a secondary role.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heat transfer—A review of 2004 literature

TL;DR: A review of heat transfer literature published in 2004 in English language, including some translations of foreign language papers, is presented in this paper, where papers are grouped into subject-oriented sections and further divided into sub-fields.
