TL;DR: PWH who were older, not on antiretroviral therapy, and with current CD4 count <350 cells/mm3, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease were overrepresented among PWH who required intubation or died, accounting for comorbidities associated with severe outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple Imputation to Account for Measurement Error in Marginal Structural Models.
Jessie K. Edwards,Stephen R. Cole,Daniel Westreich,Heidi M. Crane,Joseph J. Eron,W. Christopher Mathews,Richard D. Moore,Stephen L. Boswell,Catherine R. Lesko,Michael J. Mugavero +9 more
TL;DR: Estimating the joint effects of antiretroviral therapy initiation and current smoking on all-cause mortality in a United States cohort of 12,290 patients with HIV followed for up to 5 years between 1998 and 2011 and using multiple imputation to account for measurement error is illustrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatial Epidemiology of Recently Acquired HIV Infections across Rural and Urban Areas of North Carolina
TL;DR: Future efforts to prevent HIV transmission need to be spatially targeted, focusing on local-level transmission in risky populations, in addition to statewide anti- HIV efforts.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Nonadherence to extended postpartum antiretroviral regimens in ‘real world’ settings is likely to be higher than that seen in BAN, and identifying mothers with difficulty adhering to antireTrovirals, and developing effective adherence interventions, will help maximize benefits of antire troviral provision throughout breastfeeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large scale screening of human sera for HCV RNA and GBV-C RNA.
TL;DR: North Carolina locates acute HIV cases by pooled nucleic acid testing of HIV‐antibody negative serum samples, demonstrating the utility of pooled testing in locating individuals that may remain undiagnosed otherwise.
