Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery on fasting and postprandial concentrations of plasma ghrelin, peptide YY, and insulin.

TL;DR: The absence of a compensatory increase in ghrelin concentrations that usually occurs with diet-induced weight loss, and the exaggerated postprandial PYY response after RYGBP, may contribute to weight loss and to the ability of an individual to maintain weight loss after this surgical procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Joint international consensus statement for ending stigma of obesity.

Francesco Rubino, +40 more
- 04 Mar 2020 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a multidisciplinary group of international experts, including representatives of scientific organizations, reviewed available evidence on the causes and harms of weight stigma and, using a modified Delphi process, developed a joint consensus statement with recommendations to eliminate weight bias.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exaggerated glucagon-like peptide-1 and blunted glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide secretion are associated with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass but not adjustable gastric banding

TL;DR: Exaggerated postprandial GLP-1 and blunted glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide secretion after RYGB might contribute to the greater weight loss and improved glucose homeostasis compared with BND.
