TL;DR: These guidelines are meant to be a practical diagnostic reference for the pathologist, however, some new pathologic predictors of prognosis and response to therapy are also included.

Guidelines for pathologic diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma: 2012 update of the consensus statement from the International Mesothelioma Interest Group.
Aliya N. Husain,Thomas V. Colby,Nelson G. Ordóñez,Thomas Krausz,Richard Attanoos,Mary Beth Beasley,Alain C. Borczuk,Kelly J. Butnor,Philip T. Cagle,Lucian R. Roggli,William D. Travis,Mark R. Wick +22 more
TL;DR: These guidelines are meant to be a practical reference for the pathologist and recommend that immunohistochemical markers have either sensitivity or specificity greater than 80% for the lesions in question.
Journal ArticleDOI
NF-κB Activation in Airways Modulates Allergic Inflammation but Not Hyperresponsiveness
Matthew E. Poynter,Roy H. E. Cloots,Tiest van Woerkom,Kelly J. Butnor,Pamela M. Vacek,Douglas J. Taatjes,Charles G. Irvin,Yvonne M. W. Janssen-Heininger +7 more
TL;DR: It is clearly demonstrated that airway epithelial NF-κB activation orchestrates Ag-induced inflammation and subsequent adaptive immune responses, but does not contribute to airways hyperresponsiveness, the cardinal feature that underlies asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Linking Parenchymal Disease Progression to Changes in Lung Mechanical Function by Percolation
TL;DR: The concept of percolation may explain why theDevelopment of symptoms related to lung function and the development of parenchymal pathology often do not progress together.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Use of Immunohistochemistry Improves the Diagnosis of Small Cell Lung Cancer and Its Differential Diagnosis. An International Reproducibility Study in a Demanding Set of Cases
Erik Thunnissen,Alain C. Borczuk,Douglas B. Flieder,Birgit I. Witte,Mary Beth Beasley,Jin Haeng Chung,Sanja Dacic,Sylvie Lantuejoul,Prudence A. TL;DR: D diagnosis using hematoxylin and eosin staining alone showeds moderate agreement among pathologists in tumors with neuroendocrine morphology, but agreement improved to good in most cases with the judicious use of IHC, especially in the diagnosis of SCLC.
