Journal ArticleDOI
Coherent coupling between radiofrequency, optical and acoustic waves in piezo-optomechanical circuits
TL;DR: An acoustic wave interference effect, similar to atomic coherent population trapping, is demonstrated, in which RF-driven coherent mechanical motion is cancelled by optically-driven motion.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 2019 surface acoustic waves roadmap
Per Delsing,Andrew Cleland,M. J. A. Schuetz,Johannes Knörzer,Geza Giedke,J. Ignacio Cirac,Kartik Srinivasan,Marcelo Wu,Krishna C. Balram,Christopher Bäuerle,Tristan Meunier,C. J. B. Ford,Paulo V. Cooper,Yong Qing Fu,Manuel S. Brugger,Florian Rehfeldt,Christoph Westerhausen +38 more
TL;DR: A snapshot of the present state of Surface Acoustic Wave science and technology in 2019 is presented and an opinion on the challenges and opportunities that the future holds is provided from a group of renown experts covering the interdisciplinary key areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple-Wavelength Focusing of Surface Plasmons with a Nonperiodic Nanoslit Coupler
Takuo Tanemura,Krishna C. Balram,Dany-Sebastien Ly-Gagnon,Pierre Wahl,Pierre Wahl,Justin S. White,Mark L. Brongersma,David A. B. Miller +7 more
TL;DR: The proposed scheme provides a simple method of building wavelength-division multiplexing and spectral filtering elements, integrated with other plasmonic and optoelectronic devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strained germanium thin film membrane on silicon substrate for optoelectronics.
Donguk Nam,Devanand S. Sukhdeo,Arunanshu M. Roy,Krishna C. Balram,Szu-Lin Cheng,Kevin C. Y. Huang,Ze Yuan,Mark L. Brongersma,Yoshio Nishi,David A. B. Miller,Krishna C. Saraswat +10 more
TL;DR: This work presents a novel method to introduce a sustainable biaxial tensile strain larger than 1% in a thin Ge membrane using a stressor layer integrated on a Si substrate and presents the first highly strained Ge photodetector, showing an excellent responsivity well beyond 1.6um.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moving boundary and photoelastic coupling in GaAs optomechanical resonators
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the moving dielectric boundary and photoelastic contributions to g0 and show a significant dependence of g0 on the device's in-plane orientation.
