A Thermodynamic Framework for the Superplastic Response of Materials

TL;DR: In this paper, the superplastic constitutive relationships within the frame work of nonlinear mechanics and thermodynamics by invoking the concept of natural configurations have been developed and the basic principles of such a formulation and enumerates the restrictions arising from the structural and mechanical observations of super-plastic materials in different temperature regimes.
Journal ArticleDOI

A numerical study of the flow of a K—BKZ fluid between plates rotating about non-coincident axes

TL;DR: In this article, the flow of a Currie fluid in an orthogonal rheometer has been studied and the numerical strategy includes projection of the solution onto a polynomial subspace with a B-spline basis, and parametric continuation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Some issues in constitutive modeling

TL;DR: In this article, the entropy production inequality in the modeling of large scale motions and the uncertainty involved in formulating such an inequality as a constraint in developing constitutive relations is discussed, and the use of Lagrangian frames and reference configurations and related questions concerning the development of a constitutive model for turbulent flows of a fluid, on the basis of laminar flows of that fluid, is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Material Identification of Nonlinear Solids Infused with a Fluid

TL;DR: In this paper, a theoretical framework is proposed to guide the performance and interpretation of biaxial tests on solid-fluid mixtures and to identify forms of the response functions directly from the data.
