Remarks on The Use and Misuse of The Semi-Inverse Method in The Nonlinear Theory of Elasticity

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the application of the semi-inverse method has to be carried out very carefully in the nonlinear theory of elasticity, and that the classes of constitutive equations thus identified from the standpoint that it may admit a type of deformation may lead to models that exhibit physically unacceptable mechanical behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flow of a fluid with pressure dependent viscosity due to a boundary that is being stretched

TL;DR: It is shown that in the case of fluids with pressure dependent viscosity, vorticity concentrations can occur due to the effect of gravity.
Journal Article

A class of exact solutions for the flow of a viscoelastic fluid

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that there exist infinite solutions exactes for solving Bernstein-Kearsley-Zapas fluide in deux plaques paralleles infinies tournant autour d'un axe commun avec la meme vitesse angulaire.
Journal ArticleDOI

A note on the decay of vortices in a viscous fluid

TL;DR: In this article, an exact solution for the plane flow of an incompressible Navier-Stokes fluid as well as a second grade fluid was obtained, where the inertial terms are not identically zero but self-cancelling and the vorticity associated with the flow is constant along stream lines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of a new class of nonlinear inextensible elastic bodies

TL;DR: In this paper, the consequences of the constraint of inextensibility with regard to a class of implicit constitutive relations, where the strain is given as a function of the stress, are studied.
