TL;DR: A fully automated service for annotating bacterial and archaeal genomes that identifies protein-encoding, rRNA and tRNA genes, assigns functions to the genes, predicts which subsystems are represented in the genome, uses this information to reconstruct the metabolic network and makes the output easily downloadable for the user.
Journal ArticleDOI
The complete genome sequence of the hyperthermophilic, sulphate-reducing archaeon Archaeoglobus fulgidus

TL;DR: The A. fulgidus genome encodes functionally uncharacterized yet conserved proteins, two-thirds of which are shared with M. jannaschii (428 ORFs), indicating substantial archaeal gene diversity.
Journal ArticleDOI
The prospero gene encodes a divergent homeodomain protein that controls neuronal identity in Drosophila.
TL;DR: It is shown that the prospero (pros) gene encodes a highly divergent homeodomain, which contains several of the most conserved amino acids characteristic of knownHomeodomains, yet it is considerably less basic than previously identified homeodOMains, consistent with a model in which pros controls neuroblast cell lineages by regulating gene expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zinner,Ross Overbeek,Rick Stevens +29 more
TL;DR: The National Microbial Pathogen Data Resource (NMPDR) contains the complete genomes of ∼50 strains of pathogenic bacteria that are the focus of the curators, as well as >400 other genomes that provide a broad context for comparative analysis across the three phylogenetic Domains.
