BeppoSAX Serendipitous Discovery of the X-Ray Pulsar SAX J1802.7–2017

TL;DR: SAX J1802.7-2017 as mentioned in this paper is an accreting X-ray pulsar in a (possibly eclipsing) high-mass Xray binary with a projected semimajor axis of ax sin i ~ 70 lt-s, an orbital period of 4.6 days and a mass function f(M) ~ 17 ± 5 M☉.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Afterglows of Swift-era Gamma-Ray Bursts. I. Comparing pre-Swift and Swift era Long/Soft (Type II) GRB Optical Afterglows

David Alexander Kann, +83 more
- 13 Dec 2007 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors collected optical photometry data from the literature on a large sample of Swift-era gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows including GRBs up to September 2009, for a total of 76 GRBs, and presented an additional three pre-Swift GRBs not included in an earlier sample.
Journal ArticleDOI

The general relativistic Poynting-Robertson effect: II. A photon flux with nonzero angular momentum

TL;DR: In this paper, the motion of a test particle in a stationary, axially and reflection-symmetric spacetime of a central compact object, as affected by interaction with a test radiation field of the same symmetries, was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Discovery of 15--30 Hertz Quasi-periodic Oscillations in the X-Ray flux of 4U 1820-30

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the 1984 Exosat observations of the fast-timing properties of 4U 1820-30 which led to the discovery of 15-30 Hz quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in the X-ray flux of 4 U 18 20-30 are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The iron K-shell features of MXB 1728-34 from a simultaneous Chandra-RXTE observation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report on a simultaneous Chandra and RossiXTE observation of the low-mass X-ray binary atoll bursting source MXB 1728-34 performed on 2002 March 3-5.
