Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) in three regions of England: a repeated cross-sectional study in primary care
Luis Nacul,Eliana M Lacerda,Derek Pheby,Peter Campion,Mariam Molokhia,Shagufta Fayyaz,José Carlos de Carvalho Leite,Fiona Poland,Amanda Howe,Maria de Lourdes Drachler +9 more
TL;DR: Combining the use of both the CDC-1994 and Canadian criteria for ascertainment of ME/CFS cases is suggested, alongside careful clinical phenotyping of study participants.
Journal ArticleDOI
[Intervention levels for abdominal obesity: prevalence and associated factors].
Maria Teresa Anselmo Olinto,Luis Nacul,Juvenal Soares Dias-da-Costa,Denise Petrucci Gigante,Ana M. B. Menezes,Silvia Macedo +5 more
TL;DR: A utilizacao da medida da CC deveria ser incorporada as acoes de promocao a saude, principalmente, no acompanhamento e monitoramento da populacao.
Journal ArticleDOI
Waist circumference as a determinant of hypertension and diabetes in Brazilian women: a population-based study.
Maria Tereza Anselmo Olinto,Luis Nacul,Denise Petrucci Gigante,Juvenal Soares Dias da Costa,Ana M. B. Menezes,Silvia Macedo +5 more
TL;DR: The stronger association between WC and diabetes in younger women suggests that the validity of this indicator to assess abdominal adiposity is age-specific, and further studies should validate the usefulness of WC measurement in different age groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zaidi,Yanfeng Zhang,Nanbert Zhong,Isabel Zuniga,Rajiv Bahl +98 more
TL;DR: Nine out of top ten identified priorities were in the domain of research on improving delivery of known interventions, with simplified neonatal resuscitation program and clinical algorithms and improved skills of community health workers leading the list.
Journal ArticleDOI
The functional status and well being of people with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome and their carers.
Luis Nacul,Eliana M Lacerda,Peter Campion,Derek Pheby,Maria de Lourdes Drachler,José Carlos de Carvalho Leite,Fiona Poland,Amanda Howe,Shagufta Fayyaz,Mariam Molokhia +9 more
TL;DR: ME/CFS is disabling and has a greater impact on functional status and well being than other chronic diseases such as cancer, and the use of generic instruments such as SF-36, in combination of other objective outcome measurements, to describe patients and assess treatments is suggested.
