TL;DR: Prolonged courses of artemisinin-based combination therapies are currently efficacious in areas where standard 3-day treatments are failing, and the incidence of pretreatment and post-treatment gametocytemia was higher among patients with slow parasite clearance, suggesting greater potential for transmission.

TL;DR: Improvements in lactate concentration or coma scores over the first 24 hours of admission, were strongly prognostic for survival in all datasets and are valid surrogate endpoints for severe malaria studies on antimalarial drugs or adjuvant treatments aiming at improving the microcirculation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of the role of paraoxonase gene polymorphism (Q192R) and paraoxonase activity in the susceptibility to atherosclerosis among lead-exposed workers.
TL;DR: Lead exposure is associated with increased triglycerides, total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and decreased HDL-C, and a decrease in serum PON1 activity due to lead exposure may render individuals more susceptible to atherosclerosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular Diversity Analysis of Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) through RAPD Markers
M.E. Hoque,Manal Hasan +1 more
TL;DR: The RAPD markers were found to be useful in molecular characterization of lentil varieties which could be utilized by the breeders for the improvement of lentils cultivars.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of toxoplasmosis from cats
TL;DR: The aims of the current existing review was to decided the risk factor of T. gondii infection and demonstrated the epidemiological form of infection in dogs in Iraq and to decide the state of toxoplasmosis in the definitive host.
