Pharmacogenomic polygenic response score predicts ischaemic events and cardiovascular mortality in clopidogrel-treated patients
Joshua P. Lewis,Joshua D. Backman,Jean-Luc Reny,Thomas O. Bergmeijer,Braxton D. Mitchell,Braxton D. Mitchell,Marylyn D. Ritchie,Jean-Pierre Déry,Ruth E. Pakyz,Li Gong,Kathleen A. Ryan,Eun Young Kim,Daniel Aradi,Israel Fernandez-Cadenas,Ming Ta Michael Lee,Ryan Whaley,Joan Montaner,Gian Franco Gensini,John H. Cleator,Kiyuk Chang,Lene Holmvang,Willibald Hochholzer,Dan M. Roden,Stefan Winter,Russ B. Altman,Dimitrios Alexopoulos,Ho-Sook Kim,Meinrad Gawaz,Kevin P. Bliden,Marco Valgimigli,Rossella Marcucci,Gianluca Campo,Elke Schaeffeler,Nadia Paarup Dridi,Ming-Shien Wen,Jae-Gook Shin,Pierre Fontana,Betti Giusti,Tobias Geisler,Michiaki Kubo,Dietmar Trenk,Jolanta M. Siller-Matula,Jurriën M. ten Berg,Paul A. Gurbel,Matthias Schwab,Matthias Schwab,Teri E. Klein,Alan R. Shuldiner +47 more
TL;DR: Several polymorphisms impact clopidogrel response and PgxRS is a predictor of cardiovascular outcomes, and patients who carried a greater number of alleles that associated with increased on-treatment platelet reactivity were more likely to experience CVEs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radial versus femoral access in patients with acute coronary syndromes with or without ST-segment elevation
Pascal Vranckx,Enrico Frigoli,Martina Rothenbühler,Francesco Tomassini,Stefano Garducci,Giuseppe Andò,Andrea Picchi,Paolo Sganzerla,A. Paggi,Fabrizio Ugo,Arturo Ausiello,Gennaro Sardella,Nicoletta Franco,Marco Stefano Nazzaro,Nicoletta De Cesare,Paolo Tosi,Camillo Falcone,Carlo Vigna,Pietro Mazzarotto,Emilio Di Lorenzo,Claudio Moretti,Gianluca Campo,Carlo Penzo,Giampaolo Pasquetto,Dik Heg,Peter Jüni,Stephan Windecker,Marco Valgimigli,Matrix Investigators +28 more
TL;DR: Radial as compared with femoral access provided consistent benefit across the whole spectrum of patients with ACS, without evidence that type of presenting syndrome affected the results of the random access allocation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting 3-Year Mortality After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Updated Logistic Clinical SYNTAX Score Based on Patient-Level Data From 7 Contemporary Stent Trials
Javaid Iqbal,Javaid Iqbal,Yvonne Vergouwe,Christos V. Bourantas,David van Klaveren,Yao-Jun Zhang,Carlos M. Campos,Hector M. Garcia-Garcia,Marie-Angèle Morel,Marco Valgimigli,Stephan Windecker,E.W. Steyerberg,Patrick W. Serruys,Patrick W. Serruys +13 more
TL;DR: Risk scores combining clinical characteristics with the anatomic SYNTAX score substantially better predict 3-year mortality than the SYN TAX score alone and should be used for long-term risk stratification of patients undergoing PCI.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic determinants of on-clopidogrel high platelet reactivity.
Gianluca Campo,Matteo Miccoli,Matteo Tebaldi,Jlenia Marchesini,Luca Fileti,Monia Monti,Marco Valgimigli,Roberto Ferrari +7 more
TL;DR: The aim of this review is to describe the principal gene polymorphisms influencing on-clopidogrel PR and their relationship with long-term clinical outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydroxyl radical generation, levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and progression to heart failure after acute myocardial infarction
Marco Valgimigli,Elisa Merli,Patrizia Malagutti,Olga Soukhomovskaia,Giordano Cicchitelli,Alessandra Antelli,Donatella Canistro,Gloria Francolini,Gaetano Macrı̀,Francesca Mastrorilli,Moreno Paolini,Roberto Ferrari +11 more
TL;DR: A distinct pattern of hydroxyl radical generation is found in post-MI patients who show progression to HF, and the interplay between OSS and inflammatory status should be targeted as a possible mechanism of progression to post- MI left ventricular dysfunction.
