TL;DR: A genome-wide scan of 93 affected sibpair families from the UK indicated a similar genetic basis for human type 1 diabetes, with the major genetic component at the MHC locus (IDDM1) explaining 34% of the familial clustering of the disease.

TL;DR: A role of SLC2A9 in gout susceptibility in a New Zealand Caucasian sample set is confirmed, with the effect on risk greater than previous estimates and more extensive linkage disequilibrium in Māori and Pacific Island samples suggests that Caucasian samples may be more useful for fine-mapping.
