Neukum +45 more
TL;DR: Global mineralogical mapping of Mars by the Observatoire pour la Mineralogie, l'Eau, les Glaces et l'Activite (OMEGA) instrument on the European Space Agency's Mars Express spacecraft provides new information on Mars' geological and climatic history.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Atmospheric Chemistry Suite (ACS) of Three Spectrometers for the ExoMars 2016 Trace Gas Orbiter
Oleg Korablev,Franck Montmessin,Alexander Trokhimovskiy,Anna Fedorova,Alexey Shakun,Alexey Grigoriev,B. E. Moshkin,Nikolay Ignatiev,François Forget,Franck Lefèvre,Konstantin Anufreychik,I. Zasova,Lev Zelenyi,María Paz Zorzano +75 more
TL;DR: The Atmospheric Chemistry Suite (ACS) as discussed by the authors is an element of the Russian contribution to the ESA-Roscosmos ExoMars 2016 Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) mission.
Journal ArticleDOI
No signature of clear CO2 ice from the 'cryptic' regions in Mars' south seasonal polar cap.
Yves Langevin,Sylvain Douté,Mathieu Vincendon,François Poulet,Jean-Pierre Bibring,B. Gondet,Bernard Schmitt,François Forget +7 more
TL;DR: Near-infrared imaging spectroscopy of the south seasonal cap of Mars indicates that the low albedo results from extensive dust contamination close to the surface of a CO2 ice layer, which could be linked to atmospheric circulation patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aphelion water‐ice cloud mapping and property retrieval using the OMEGA imaging spectrometer onboard Mars Express
Jean-Baptiste Madeleine,Jean-Baptiste Madeleine,François Forget,Aymeric Spiga,Michael J. Wolff,Franck Montmessin,Mathieu Vincendon,D. Jouglet,Brigitte Gondet,Jean-Pierre Bibring,Yves Langevin,Bernard Schmitt +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the OMEGA imaging spectrometer aboard Mars Express has been used to map the aphelion clouds over Tharsis and retrieve their particle size and visible opacity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Albedo control of seasonal South Polar cap recession on Mars
Frédéric Schmidt,Sylvain Douté,Bernard Schmitt,Mathieu Vincendon,Jean-Pierre Bibring,Yves Langevin +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a defrost mass balance model (referred to as D-frost) that incorporates the effect of shadowing induced by topography, and showed that the global SSPC asymmetry in the crocus line is controlled by albedo variations.
