Differential cytokine expression in human cancer
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for diagnosing a cancer type, whereby the expression of anti-apoptotic cytokines is determined in the tumour cells, was proposed, which is used to classify tumour disorders and to recommend the required treatment and to monitor the progress and response to the treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
High levels of exogenous C2‐ceramide promote morphological and biochemical evidences of necrotic features in thyroid follicular cells
Matilde Todaro,Mario Catalano,Diana Di Liberto,Mariella Patti,Monica Zerilli,F. Di Gaudio,G. Di Gesu,Vetri G,Giuseppe Modica,Antonino Bono,Marcello Ciaccio,Giorgio Stassi +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that thyroid follicular cells exposed to 20 μM of C2‐ceramide for 4 h are characterized by morphological features of necrosis, such as electron‐lucent cytoplasm, mitochondrial swelling, and loss of plasma membrane integrity without drastic morphological changes in the nuclei, suggesting that high levels of exogenous ceramide contribute to the necrotic process in TFC.
Analysis of milk production of Valle del Belice ewes reared in their area of origin, and analysis of expansion of the breed [Sicily]
TL;DR: In this article, a study was made of 3,214 regular lactations from as many ewes, reared in 12 flocks, 6 inthe area of origin and 6 in the area of expansion of the breed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recapitulating thyroid cancer histotypes through engineering embryonic stem cells
Veronica Veschi,Alice Turdo,Chiara Modica,Francesco Verona,Simone Di Franco,Miriam Gaggianesi,Elena Tirrò,Sebastiano Di Bella,Melania Lo Iacono,Vincenzo Davide Pantina,Gaetana Porcelli,Laura Rosa Mangiapane,Paola Bianca,Aroldo Rizzo,Elisabetta Sciacca,Irene Pillitteri,Veronica Vella,Antonino Belfiore,Maria Rita Bongiorno,Giuseppe Tisone,Lorenzo Memeo,Lorenzo Colarossi,Dario Giuffrida,Cristina Colarossi,Paolo Vigneri,Matilde Todaro,Giorgio Stassi +26 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors created follicular cell-derived thyroid carcinoma (TC) of all the different histotypes based on specific genomic alterations delivered by CRISPR-Cas9 in hESC-derived TPCs.
