TL;DR: In an analysis of data from individual patients with PSC worldwide, significant variation in clinical course associated with age at diagnosis, sex, and ductal and IBD subtypes is found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early monotherapy with pegylated interferon alpha-2b for acute hepatitis C infection: the HEP-NET acute-HCV-II study.
Johannes Wiegand,Peter Buggisch,Wulf O. Boecher,Stefan Zeuzem,Cornelia M. Gelbmann,Thomas Berg,Wolfgang Kauffmann,Birgit Kallinowski,Markus Cornberg,Elmar Jaeckel,Heiner Wedemeyer,Michael P. Manns +11 more
TL;DR: In acute HCV infection, early treatment with peginterferon α2b leads to high virological response rates in individuals who are adherent to treatment, and future studies should identify factors predicting spontaneous viral clearance to avoid unnecessary therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study of primary sclerosing cholangitis identifies new risk loci and quantifies the genetic relationship with inflammatory bowel disease

Karlsen,Konstantinos N. Lazaridis,Carl A. Anderson +77 more
TL;DR: This study undertook the largest genome-wide association study of PSC and identified four new genome- wide significant loci, with the most associated SNP at one locus predicted to cause nonstop-mediated mRNA decay and lower expression of UBASH3A.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ribavirin treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis E: a single‐centre experience
Sven Pischke,Svenja Hardtke,Ulrike Bode,Stephan Birkner,Christos Chatzikyrkou,Wolfgang Kauffmann,Christoph Bara,Jens Gottlieb,Juergen J. Wenzel,Michael P. Manns,Heiner Wedemeyer +10 more
TL;DR: The role of ribavirin for treatment of severe acute or chronic hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is not well defined.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biliary strictures and recurrence after liver transplantation for primary sclerosing cholangitis: A retrospective multicenter analysis
Tatiana Hildebrand,N Pannicke,Alexander Dechêne,Daniel Gotthardt,Gabriele I. Kirchner,Florian P. TL;DR: Donor age, IBD, and INR at LT are independent risk factors for BS and recPSC and allow for risk estimation depending on the recipient‐donor constellation.
