Journal ArticleDOI
DNA methylation derived systemic inflammation indices are associated with head and neck cancer development and survival.
Srikant Ambatipudi,Ryan Langdon,Rebecca C Richmond,Matthew Suderman,Devin C. Koestler,Karl T. Kelsey,Nabila Kazmi,Christopher Penfold,Karen M Ho,Wendy L. McArdle,Susan M. Ring,Miranda Pring,Tim Waterboer,Michael Pawlita,Tom R. Gaunt,George Davey Smith,Steve J Thomas,Andy R Ness,Caroline L Relton +18 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that mdSI estimated by DNA methylation data is associated with the presence of HNSCC and overall survival and the mdSI indices may be used as a valuable research tool to reliably estimate SI in the absence of cell-based estimates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Longitudinal study of seroprevalence and serostability of 34 human papillomavirus types in European organ transplant recipients.
Annika Antonsson,Tim Waterboer,Jan Nico Bouwes Bavinck,Damiano Abeni,Maurits N. C. de Koning,Sylvie Euvrard,Mariet C.W. Feltkamp,Adèle C. Green,Catherine A. Harwood,Luigi Naldi,Ingo Nindl,Herbert Pfister,Charlotte M. Proby,Wim Quint,Eggert Stockfleth,Sönke Weissenborn,Michael Pawlita,Rachel E. Neale +17 more
TL;DR: Seroprevalence in immunosuppressed OTRs is stable in the 18 months immediately after transplantation, and there is no short-term evidence that Immunosuppression leads to new or reactivated skin infection with HPV sufficient to induce antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI
A systematic investigation of the contribution of genetic variation within the MHC region to HPV seropositivity
Dan Chen,Dan Chen,Valerie Gaborieau,Yao Zhao,Amelie Chabrier,Huibo Wang,Tim Waterboer,David Zaridze,Jolanta Lissowska,Peter Rudnai,Eleonora Fabianova,Vladimir Bencko,Vladimir Janout,Lenka Foretova,Ioan Nicolae Mates,Neonila Szeszenia-Dabrowska,Paolo Boffetta,Michael Pawlita,Mark Lathrop,Ulf Gyllensten,Paul Brennan,James McKay +21 more
TL;DR: Support is provided for an important role of HLA class II alleles in antibody response to HPV infection at both the individual HPV type level and the phylogenetic species level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C virus seroprevalence in the general female population of 9 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Gary M. Clifford,Tim Waterboer,Bolormaa Dondog,You-Lin Qiao,D Kordzaia,Doudja Hammouda,Namory Keita,Nahid Khodakarami,Syed Ahsan Raza,Syed Ahsan Raza,Ang Tshering Sherpa,Witold Zatonski,Michael Pawlita,Martyn Plummer,Silvia Franceschi +14 more
TL;DR: Combining dried blood spot collection with high-throughput HCV assays can facilitate seroepidemiological studies in LMIC where data is otherwise scarce, as well as correlated well with recent estimates of female HCV-related liver cancer incidence.
