Vendramin,Marc Villar,Johan Westin,Patrick Fonti +73 more
TL;DR: This dataset of individual tree-core characteristics including ring-width series and whole-core wood density was collected for seven ecologically and economically important European tree species, covering most of the geographical and climatic range occupied by the selected species.
Book ChapterDOI
Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)
TL;DR: In this chapter the situation of breeding of Scots pine is described for different European countries and its genetic diversity, the wood production and the state of forest reproductive material of this species in Europe are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adaptive and plastic responses of Quercus petraea populations to climate across Europe.
Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero,Cuauhtémoc Sáenz-Romero,Jean-Baptiste Lamy,Alexis Ducousso,Brigitte Musch,François Ehrenmann,Sylvain Delzon,Stephen Cavers,Władysław Chałupka,Said Dağdaş,Jon Kehlet Hansen,Steve Lee,Mirko Liesebach,Hans-Martin Rau,Achilleas Psomas,Volker Schneck,Wilfried Steiner,Niklaus E. Zimmermann,Antoine Kremer +18 more
TL;DR: Overall, results indicated a moderate response of tree height and survival to climate variation, with changes in dryness explaining the major part of the response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of climate and drought events on the growth of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) provenances
TL;DR: The results indicate a better adaptation to drought of the provenance from Bosnia Herzegovina and of local German provenances compared to other provenances and clearly demonstrate the importance of considering provenance in the discussion about future adaptedness and adaptability of tree species under climate change scenarios.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chilling and forcing requirements for foliage bud burst of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) differ between provenances and are phenotypically plastic
Koen Kramer,Alexis Ducousso,Alexis Ducousso,Dušan Gömöry,Jon Kehlet Hansen,Lucia Ionita,Mirko Liesebach,Adrian Lorenţ,Silvio Schüler,M Sulkowska,Sven G.M de Vries,Georg von Wühlisch +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that adaptive differences exist between provenances in the critical chilling- and forcing requirements triggering budburst and it is likely that these provenances show a plastic response to local environmental conditions for these two factors.
