Journal ArticleDOI
PAD4 is essential for antibacterial innate immunity mediated by neutrophil extracellular traps
TL;DR: It is found that citrullination decreased the bacterial killing activity of histones and nucleosomes, which suggests that PAD4 mainly plays a role in chromatin decondensation to form NETs instead of increasing histone-mediated bacterial killing.
Journal ArticleDOI
NKG2D-Deficient Mice Are Defective in Tumor Surveillance in Models of Spontaneous Malignancy
Nadia Guerra,Ying Xim Tan,Nathalie T. Joncker,Augustine Choy,Fermin Gallardo,Na Xiong,Sue E. Knoblaugh,Dragana Cado,Norman R. Greenberg,David H. Raulet +9 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that NKG2D was not necessary for NK cell development but was critical for immunosurveillance of epithelial and lymphoid malignancies in two transgenic models of de novo tumorigenesis, providing important genetic evidence for surveillance of primary tumors by an NK receptor.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Role of the NKG2D Immunoreceptor in Immune Cell Activation and Natural Killing
Amanda M. Jamieson,Andreas Diefenbach,Christopher W. McMahon,Na Xiong,James R. Carlyle,David H. Raulet +5 more
TL;DR: It is observed that cross-linking of NKG2D directly stimulates NK cells and activated macrophages and costimulates activated CD8(+) T cells, and plays a substantial role in natural killing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Correction: Corrigendum: Differential developmental requirement and peripheral regulation for dermal Vγ4 and Vγ6T17 cells in health and inflammation
Yihua Cai,Feng Xue,Christopher M. Fleming,Jie Yang,Chuanlin Ding,Yunfeng Ma,Min Liu,Huang-Ge Zhang,Jie Zheng,Na Xiong,Jun Yan +10 more
TL;DR: Huang-Ge Zhang as discussed by the authors was supported by a Research Career Scientist (RCS) Award, but the financial support for this article was not fully acknowledged by the RCS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dysregulated Microbial Fermentation of Soluble Fiber Induces Cholestatic Liver Cancer.
Vishal Singh,Beng San Yeoh,Benoit Chassaing,Xia Xiao,Piu Saha,Rodrigo Aguilera Olvera,John D. Lapek,Limin Zhang,Wei Bei Wang,Sijie Hao,Michael D. Flythe,David Gonzalez,Patrice D. Cani,Jose R. Conejo-Garcia,Na Xiong,Mary J. Kennett,Bina Joe,Andrew D. Patterson,Andrew T. Gewirtz,Matam Vijay-Kumar +19 more
TL;DR: Enrichment of foods with fermentable fiber should be approached with great caution as it may increase risk of HCC, and pharmacologic inhibition of fermentation or depletion of fermenting bacteria markedly reduced intestinal SCFA and prevented HCC.
