Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling the impact of high temperatures on microalgal viability and photosynthetic activity

TL;DR: The model developed in this study can be used to forecast the impact of high temperatures on algal biofuel productivity and is used to select the best combination of location, system geometry, and algal species to minimize the risks of culture collapse and therefore maximizeBiofuel productivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fast and fully automatic 3-d echocardiographic segmentation using B-spline explicit active surfaces: feasibility study and validation in a clinical setting.

TL;DR: An automatic initialization scheme adapted to 3-D, echocardiographic data is proposed, and a novel segmentation functional, which explicitly takes the darker appearance of the blood into account, is also introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sclerosing cholangitis with neonatal onset.

TL;DR: Eight children with cholestasis from the first week of life, followed by early cirrhosis and portal hypertension, are described and abnormal intrahepatic bile ducts with rarefaction of segmental branches, stenosis, and focal dilation are disclosed.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Compressive sensing in medical ultrasound

TL;DR: The basic theory of compressive sensing, a review of the existing CS studies in the field of medical ultrasound, and the open problems and challenges to be tackled in order to make the application of CS to medical US a reality will be given.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-term outcome of liver transplantation in childhood: A study of 20-year survivors.

TL;DR: Twenty‐year survival after childhood liver transplantation may be close to 80%, and final height is within the normal range for most patients, however, chronic kidney disease or altered liver biochemistries are present in over one third of patients, which is a matter of concern for the future.
